Anterior Opening Wedge Osteotomy of the Proximal Tibia for Genu Recurvatum Caused by Partial Proximal Tibial Epiphyseal Arrest

چکیده
For genu recurvatum deformity after tibial fracture, precise correction osteotomy is necessary to acquire a good clinical outcome. No report on genu recurvatum has evaluated precise preoperative planning with image-processing software for three-dimensional (3D) design and modeling. We herein report a case of osseous genu recurvatum treated by anterior opening wedge osteotomy according to precise preoperative 3D simulation. This is a useful tool for precise correction of osseous deformity.

Report of a Case of Genu Recurvatum Following Tibial Eminence Avulsion Treated by Proximal Tibial Flexion Osteotomy and Review of the Literature
We report a case of acquired genu recurvatum treated with a proximal tibial flexion osteotomy. A partial growth arrest at the anterior portion of the proximal tibial physis following a conservatively treated Meyers-McKeever type II injury of the tibial eminence. This is a reliable method in the correction of genu recurvatum. By using tricortical autogenous iliac crest graft, the osteotomy may b...
متن کاملGenu Recurvatum Following Paediatric Femoral Diaphyseal - Fracture : Salter Type V Injury Revisit
A 17-year old boy with a history of a right femoral shaft fracture, fixed with a reamed intramedullary nail four years earlier, presented with a 15° genu recurvatum deformity, presumably due to premature closure of the anterior proximal tibial physeal plate following a Salter type V injury. He was treated with a supra-tubercular anterior opening wedge osteotomy, fixed with two Puddu plates and ...
متن کاملAnterior Opening Wedge Osteotomy of the Tibia for the Treatment of Genu Recurvatum
Pathologic genu recurvatum is defined by knee hyperextension in excess of 15 degrees and is usually asymmetric. This is a rare disease that can be related to bony, soft tissue or a combination of both. Patients with genu recurvatum commonly present with anterior knee pain, knee instability, ambulation difficulty on uneven ground, and patellofemoral instability. Anterior opening wedge osteotomy ...
متن کاملGenu Recurvatum Deformity in a Child due to Salter Harris Type V Fracture of the Proximal Tibial Physis Treated with High Tibial Dome Osteotomy
Salter-Harris type V fracture is a very rare injury in the immature skeleton. In most cases, it remains undiagnosed and untreated. We report a case of genu recurvatum deformity in a 15-year-old boy caused by a Salter-Harris type V fracture of the proximal tibial physis. The initial X-ray did not reveal fracture. One year after injury, genu recurvatum deformity was detected associated with signi...
متن کاملGenu Recurvatum after Tibial Tuberosity Fracture
Fractures of the tibial tuberosity are infrequent injuries that occur during adolescence. Displaced tibial tuberosity fractures are typically treated with open reduction and internal fixation. Since these fractures occur at or near skeletal maturity, growth disturbances are not seen. This paper presents a case, the first report to our knowledge, of genu recurvatum deformity after open reduction...
